This was always going to be a close game, with both sides looking to out do each other. Harwich started the better with Jack James scoring the first of the game and the first of his 4 tries. With excellent ruck play Clacton were soon back in the game and their ability to dominate the breakdown led them to take the lead, scoring 3 tries on the bounce without conceding. Down, but not out, Harwich fought back and superb tackling from Josh Wells and excellent counter rucking from Kyle Mather forced Harwich back into the game. It wasn’t long before James added two more tries to the score sheet putting Harwich on level terms.

With the game balanced it could of easily gone either way. With superb passing play from Ioan Woodward, Cameron Brunsden and Regan Constable Harwich stretched the Clacton Defence and a break down the right hand side of the field led to a score from Jacob Jackson in the corner. Harwich were now in the lead, however Clacton fought back and managed to score again, levelling the score. From the kick off a great individual try from Jack James, which he then converted put Harwich back on top with 10 minutes to play.

Clacton were determined to come back and the Harwich defence held strong but couldn’t keep them out, they managed to score a try in the corner needing a very difficult kick to put them in the lead. With the kick missed Harwich had 2 minutes to hold on to their slender lead which they did.
Final score Harwich 27 Clacton 25. Man of the match went to Jack James with 4 tries, runners up were Josh Wells and Kyle Mather.
