HDHS 30-5 Colne

The Year 8 Rugby team travelled to Colne high on confidence after a brilliant performance at CCHS the previous week. The game started in a tough manor with Harrison Hunt and Harry Pitham trying to gain control of the ball. This lead directly to Alex Ashworth scoring the games first try after excellent ball usage for Liam Atkins. The game continued at an excellent pace with both teams rucking and using the ball well. Regan Constable gained excellent yardage and again found Alex Ashworth in the wing to run in his second try. This seemed to turn the tide and Harwich from then were rampant winning every scrum, ruck and maul. Ioan Woodward lead the team excellently and at half time the score was HDHS 20-0 Colne.
Colne in the second half came out fighting and started to dominate the rucks and gain a few penalties. Cameron Brunsden, Matt Morgan and Morgan Campbell were having to make tackle after tackle but eventually the pressure did pay off and Colne got one back. This seemed to inspire the team who again up’d the pressure to run in another 2 tries through Ioan Woodward and Alex Ashworth. Jamie Brunning and Alfie Carman fairly new to the team put in a great display. Overall the boys performed brilliantly with each player working extremely hard and doing the basic things right.
Man of the match as Alex Ashworth.
