Spelling Bee Competition

Written by Anna Day on . Posted in Archived News, English And Media, Parent News, School News

On Tuesday afternoon while sports day was very much in action on the field, an equally competitive and challenging contest was taking place in the main hall: The Inter-Community Spelling Bee Competition. The event started with three staff members battling it out before the main event where students from each of the four communities spelt their way through three rounds until we were left with two students in the final. Ella Mark of Versailles sneaked it in the exciting head to head final ahead of Cameron from Heidelberg. It was a great event and a big thank you to staff and family who supported the students.

Some beautiful images of the year five artists at work creating their paper plate toucans and enjoying samba!
They were an absolute delight to have in our classes and we are really looking forward to seeing some of them in September 2017, we hope they enjoyed their Fiesta time in our Art department as much as we loved meeting them.

Well done to Alhambra for being awarded the title of Inter-community debate champions 2016. Cameron Clark of Heidleberg won the individual debater award. Well done to all the students who took part and challenged themselves and pushed themselves outside their comfort zone to debate complex and mature topics. Thank you also to family and staff who attended and supported the students.

Mr Garnham receives the trophy recognising the school’s Champion Status for National Citizen Service (NCS) from Stuart Braybrooke, regional head.  NCS provides opportunities for students to undertake community projects in their local area and this year over 60 public-spirited students from the school have committed to working during the summer holiday to support their town.  This is the highest highest number of any Essex school, leading to the Champions award.
