Year 7 Carol Service

Year 7’s were joined by their parents/carers to sing carols and perform drama and musical interludes of a high standard.

A*spire Boomerang Project

The extremely talented A*spire group showcased their challenging task of preparing, making and pitching their boomerang project. They have been working hard over the last half term on the Maths and Science of boomerang flight, they are a joy to learn with! The end presentation was enjoyed by staff, parents and Governors, it was clear to see the level of challenge applied by the students. Congratulations to all involved.

Christmas Card and 12 Days of Christmas Competitions

11 12 Days of Christmas Board 12 Days Runner-up Joseph Horncastle 12 Days Winner Jessie Archer-Farrands christmas card display board Janie Olive card Kayla Bush card Runner-up Karolina Nowak Runner-up Mikayla Mann Winner Irene Okenzuwa

HDHS Students were invited to take part in the above competitions. The standard of entries were high with some attractive designs.

The Christmas Card Competition prize winners were as follows:

Winners – Trevor Bbanda 11WBEn and Irene Okenzuwa 8HSb. £10 vouchers.
Runners-up – Mikayla Mann 7HAk and Karolina Nowak 7HAk. Chocolate selection boxes.

In the ‘Alternative 12 Days of Christmas Competition, the premise was to write a version of the traditional song based on a book, film or TV programme.

The winner was Jessie Archer-Farrands (7WNr), with her clever take on Harry Potter. Joseph Horncastle (7VIr) came second, penning his witty parody a ’12 Days of Summer’, based
on the cartoon series ‘Gravity Falls’. Jessie received a £10 voucher whilst a chocolate selection box was given to Joseph.

This event will take place on Friday 18 December. No tickets will be issued. Each student will be allocated seats for 2 guests. Please ensure you arrive at the correct time indicated for your child’s community. Alhambra and Versailles will take place at 11.00am and Heidelberg and Windsor will take place at 9.50am.

Mastermind Quiz

A reminder there is still time for pupils and staff to enter the Mastermind quiz. Closing date for contestant’s entry forms to be handed in, (available from library), is Friday 18th December.

The quiz rounds will take place in the New Year after school. Separate rounds for pupils and staff, with the winner from each round going through to The Grand Final, where contestants will answer question on General Knowledge

Duke of Edinburgh

Students completed part of the Essex Way within their Duke of Edinburgh groups.
All groups had good morale and walked quicker then expected. This gave them the opportunity to test their navigating skills before they go out on their practice expedition in March.
